Governor Brad Henry - Governor's Commendation (Apr 26, 2007)
Citation of Recognition
Horseshoe Road
Whereas, in April 2005, Kyle Dillingham, Brad Benge and Dustin Jones created the band, Horseshoe Road, and Oklahoma based acoustic group that had already achieved recognition as musical ambassadors for the State of Oklahoma by blending Western Swing, Bluegrass, Jazz, and Country into a unique sound they call "Heartland Acoustic"; and
Whereas, in October, 2006, the band took their "Oklahoma Sound" to 10 cities in Japan and Thailand, and a film documenting their tour will air on PBS as and official Oklahoma Centennial Project; and
Whereas, Horseshoe Road believes that the only way to create Oklahoma music is to be an Oklahoman and write about what they see around them and they continue to surround themselves with the sights and sounds of their home.
Now therefore, pursuant to the motion of Representative Mike Brown The Legislature Of The Great State Of Oklahoma extends to Horseshoe Road sincere commendation and directs that this Citation be presented.
